Text book  :  Computer Networking, fourth edition by J.F. Kurose and K.W. Ross

The course will focus on the theory and implementation of networks with emphasis on the internet. There will be overview of networks, their terminology, topologies and technologies; transmission media, error and traffic management. There will also be extensive discussion of layered architecture (OSI Vs TCP/IP), protocols at various layers, and security and performance issues. Additionally, the course will include network programming, multimedia and mobile networking.

This will have a chalk course site which will available closer to the beginning of the quarter

However, students are expected to arrive at solutions independently (if two homeworks are too similar, even with acknowledgement of discussion, both students could lose the grade).
