I remember someone saying something about why POG was such a limited release
but I forgot what was said. Could someone please send this info (to me or the
list).

Also, could anyone give me detailed information about the songs on the the The
compilation tape (especially the one that are on the standard the The CDs).

The above information would be much appreciated.

I don't think it has anything to do with AOL. All I've gotten are the
unsubscribe mails, too. Not much happening on the The The front lately...

Hey, don't blame me for the lack of dialogue... I've been a travelling
man... which brings up a great concern of mine, radio stations.

Because I end up driving around an awful lot, and this trend probably
won't subside anytime soon, I really would like to have a list of cool
radio stations to listen to during my travels (or is it travails?), i.e.
ones that play the The. While I considered myself to be in heaven when I
managed to catch the tail end of "This is the day" on a Minneapolis radio
station, I don't particularly like playing radio lottery (after all, I
missed at least half the song!).

Sooo... I would be much obliged if y'all could give me suggestions as to
what radio stations to listen to wherever I go.

As to the dialogue, I did like the arc about emotions and his Mattness'
lyrics, but I'm wondering how far afield the list-serve members want to
go. This may be why its been silent lately. I know I tend to ramble, and I
don't want to offend or detract (not that flames are too bothersome--
especially with my name).

Anyhow, I must go and flip the tape.

As a new subscriber, I'd be interested to hear from anyone on the list
who knows *for sure* that this album actually exists, either on vinyl,
or on cassette. If so, I'd love to know the track listing, and whether
it's a promo or regular release.

Also, I guess I'm too late for the rarities tapes offer, but could
someone be so kind as to mail the track listings (just so that I can
see what's missing in my own collection)?

Lastly, would I be correct in thinking that there are going to be no
further singles released from _Hanky Panky_?

Hope to see some action on here!!

Cheers,

i am off to florida for a week, but i thought maybe i could answer that
question quickly. on the aol event after-chat, matt told us that porno does
actually exist, which we found surprising. assume then it was most likely
something he put together for his friends maybe.
track listing? there are guesses, based on b-sides and promos, as well as
the infected book.
1 The Nature of Virtue
2 Leap Into the Wind
3 Dumb as Death's Head
4 Mental Healing Process (For a Mixed Up Kid)
5 Absolute Liberation 1
6 Absolute Liberation 2
7 Uncertain Smile
8 Perfect
9 Three Orange Kisses From Kazan *
10 Waiting for the Upturn *
11 Fruit of the Heart *
12 Soup of Mixed Emotions *
* these tracks possibly not part of Pornography of Despair
this listing comes from a discography maintained by an infected list member.
it is likely that there is no absolute liberation 2, with that song as listed
in the infected book is actually the second vocal track on absolue liberation
1. this would mean that all of the above songs are available as b-side, 12"s
and promos.
the tapes that were recently put together have all the b-sides up until hanky
panky, most remixes, and a lot of guest appearances by matt on other peoples
records. this would include marc almond, 'o'rang, deux filles, and the
gadgets. way too much stuff to list.
ok, off to florida. have a good week.

Salutations,

I hope this question does'nt get lost in the plethora of other theThe
discussion topics :?) However, I was wondering if anyone (supposing people
are out there) knew whether Matt's studio is in fact the "War Room" and if
so, what was its previous title i.e. Air?
