Anyway, what I really wanted to ask was:
What are the names of Matt Johnson's solo albums?
I know that one is "conversations", but does anyone know of any others?
I found a whole bunch of stuff under a "M. Johnson", entited, "Leaning on
Jesus", "A Year of Mondays", and "Why Me". Does this make any sense to
anyone out there?

Is there any truth to the roumours that Matt is working on (and nearly
finished) a new project? I have been hanging out since Dusk, as I'm afraid
that Hanky Panky did not do much to sate my pallate. I hate to sound like
a right bastard but I hope his fingers are bleeding. Go Matt, go!

Its also 4am sitting on the porch sittin' music...especially after a night of
carousing and carrying on and not being able toget in your own house because
your dorky roommates decided to change the lock on you (they lost their
keys!)...so you climb the balconey rail and get to the proch and hang out with
firends you just met...it was a beautiful time!

The sheer audacity of Matt to do a Hank WIlliams tribute gives him high marks
in my book...while you may not appreciate the music, at least appreciate the
effort and the impact that many how have gone before our fav "rocksters" have
paved the way for their success and our chance to be drooling, salivating and
fanatic admirers of the musicians of our choosing. (I never said I got
straight A's in grammar or spelling for that matter, but I'm pretty darn smart

Personally, Hanky Panky has a sound that hits me like a pint of Tequilla
on an empty stomach at four in the morning when you don't recognize your
new tattoo, not to mention your surroundings, (a state in Mexico who's
name you always had trouble recalling yet now comes as if you've always
lived there,) and everyone is calling you 'Poncho' and laughing and you
don't know why since you can't for the life of you understand what the
hell anyone is saying.
You're slightly scared of what's going on, but somehow it's the
coolest thing you've ever done. (which may be a stretch for some of
us)...
Just a thought... try the album as driving music, through the desert-type
driving music and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. If there's no
desert where you live, forget what I just wrote.

Also, I've got a spare copy of this on vinyl if anybody has anything

Since we're on the topic of Alive, which was a radio show, does anybody
have a copy of the show Rockline (or something like that) when Matt was
on? This was around Oct '94 or so. I heard it and recorded it but
don't know where the tape is. I remember he had a pretty cool version
of Dogs of Lust with just him and a guitar. Ideally I'd like to find
someone that recorded it on a DAT and could burn me a CD, but I'm not

About eight years ago I had a cassette tape of Infected. On
this cassette were three bonus tracks (one of which became one of my
favorite the The songs). Of course, being a stupid high school kid at
the time, I left it in my car one hot summer day and it melted. Since
then I can't find it anywhere! Could someone help me find it - maybe
it's only available as an import?! I've been looking for this for

Were the bonus tracks just the 12" versions of Infected, Slow Train

since the list is so quiet i'll ask some questions which have been nagging
at my head like a gadfly but been too lazy to ask. Ok...on Mind Bomb about
3 minutes onto "Armageddon Days are here", just before the line "if the
real jesus christ were to stand up today..." there is a recording over the
music of a guys voice saying, what i beleive to be "get the gun...get the
gun...(pause) stay away from the gun" or something to that effect, but its
faint. Anyways..i'd always wondered what that said etc and then one day i
was randomly watching some documentary on TV about some Kennedy who was
shot (i'm canadian so pardon my lack of american history knowledge), not
the famous kennedy but another, not to so famous kennedy, i think kennedy,
who was shot in a crowd of people and some camera person was there and you
hear someone yell the those same words in the same way. Just wondering if
this is what it is from (those words really stood out and i recognized them
right away from the song which was really odd).

ok..second question is that i got the "dis-infected" ep, which large
amounts of japanese or so writing inside and a few different versians of
infected, soul mining and armegeddon days, plus"scenes from artic
twilight". Any idea of this is worth anything? i doubt it is, i only payed
$24 canadian for it.

Yes, "Get the gun..." IS from news footage shot at the Los Angeles Hotel
where Bobby Kennedy was assasinated, after winning the California Primary.
You hear the news reporter yelling those words, while bystanders subdued
Sirhan Sirhan.

Just as Bobby Kennedy was a champion of civil rights, Matt Johnson draws a
nice parallel to Jesus Christ being "gunned down cold by the CIA". This
world has a nice way of silencing those who try to do good toward their
fellow man.

Nice piece of sampling, Matt!

Yup. Those lines are supposed to be from the Robert Kennedy
assassination. Having just listened to Mind Bomb yesterday, I am now
convinced that Matt Johnson was quite upset with American hegemony in the
eighties- lines like: this is the 51st state of the USA (a sort of
1984-ish airstrip one line), I can't see past the tear gas and the dollar
signs in my eyes, as the pound in their pocket turns into a dollar, and
the whole part about a bomber pilot over the middle east.
Sure, I guess in the U.K., back in the eighties, it did kind of seem as
though England was becoming a political and more especially, economic,
subsidiary of the USA. I can understand Matt's pain, no one likes their
idenity taken away. Just look at what it did to Sandra Bullock in "The
Net"...

Secondly, the album you picked up sounds interesting. I have been trying
to get my hands on those "scenes from Artic Twilight" since I have no idea
what it is or they are. Does it say anything about being a special edition
of being part of a set? If you could provide just a little more info, I'd
be interested in knowing. Feel free to email me directly and bypass the
list, no reason to clutter it with all these deserters in the ranks. The
answer to your question is yes, any the The EP you got is worth something,
it's the The after all...

What, should I speculate about the sound and content of the next record?
No, I should talk about cereal. Hold your horses, this ties in with the
Bobby Kennedy thing, if only because it mentions politics, and MJ has
never been above mentioning Politics.

I had a favorite cereal; ate it every morning. One morn I took a look at
the
nutritional information and discovered that it was, in essence,
oat-flecked
divots of lard. I spent a monkish year choking down Grape Nuts, which
resemble a bowl of rugged BBs, but with less taste. Now I just eat
what's
cheap. This week it's Frosted Cheerios.

The word "Frosted" on the box guarantees that the sugar is clearly
visible,
not hidden, just as the word "Fruit" assures you that several pieces of
fruit-hued putty with Real Fruit Flavor will tumble from the box, and
the
word "Fiber" means that the package will have the digestive effect of
consuming a Chore Boy scouring pad.

Of course, I could scorn high cereal prices and buy the store brands
with
the cheap graphics. The boxes say things like "if you like Fruit 'n'
Fiber,
you'll love Pits 'n' Chaff!" "If you like Lucky Charms, you'll love
Frosted
Pixie Gizzards!" If you like "Alpha Bits, you'll be temporarily confused
by
Toasty Random Shapes!"

The cartoon characters on these boxes look like losers who couldn't get
work
with a real cereal. I'm sure the cereals taste fine. But I cannot bring
myself to start the day with Oaty Clown Balls, not when the mascot leers
like John Wayne Gacy on the last few hours of an amphetamine jag.

Actually, I don't have to commit to a cereal for an entire week just
because
I have a coupon. There are single-serve containers: The Kel-Bowl-Pac. In
the
60s, this was a brilliant advance in cereal technology - a small
single-serving box that doubles as a bowl. It was like something "Q"
division would whip up for James Bond. They came in groups of four -
Frosted
Flakes, Rice Krispees, Sugar Pops, and Special K, a cereal that has had
the
flavor scientifically extracted. The weakest child got the Special K; it
was
nature's way.

It takes skill to use a Kel-Bowl-Pac, particularly if you are camping.
You
take a knife and cut along the dotted line, puncturing the inner
membrane
and plunging the knife into your leg. You now have a small box of cereal
stuck to your thigh. Next step: scream uncontrollably, causing an adult
to
quiet your misery by giving you someone else's Frosted Flakes. Thus does
the
weakest child develop a sense of guile. It is nature's way.

The different between Frosted Flakes and Frosted Cheerios? The Flakes
have a
mascot: Tony the Tiger, Mr. Swank, the relaxed old pro, the Arnold
Palmer
of the mascot circuit. Sugar Puffs had Sugar Bear - that Rat-Pack
refugee
with the sleepy eyes and the Dean Martin manner, the spokescreature most
likely to be brought up on a morals charge. (His co-defendant would no
doubt
be Toucan Sam, the Peter Lawford of cereal spokesmen.) I always got the
feeling that Tony the Tiger would beat Sugar Bear to a moaning pulp if
he
got the chance; guys like Sugar Bear must have bugged Tony. Sugar Bear
would
have protested the Vietnam War; Tony would have supported it.

Where Frosted Cheerios stands on the matter of post-colonial Communist
insurrections, I don't know. I just eat it because it's cheap. Next week
it
goes off sale, though, and I'll have to find something else. Lucky
Charms,
perhaps. Nice and apolitical.

Please don't tell me the leprechaun was caught running guns for the IRA.

I remember back in '90, I suppose around the Mind Bomb tour, a local
radio station had a trivia game at noon every day. They played
Armageddon Days, and the first caller got it. This was pre-JFK. My guess
is that the clip came from actual footage of the assassination, unless
Oliver (everyone's fave Buddhist, unless you like Thich Nhat Hanh or
Richard Gere) was simply paying tribute to the Bobby Kennedy
documentary.

I heard the line in the movie "JFK" (by Oliver Stone). The line
in the
movie occurred when Jack Ruby shot Oswald.
