and percussionist Gustavo Ovalles - they're amazingly creative
I'm exploring a lot of jazz now, digging in with
Roland Kirk
and
Sun Ra, based on recommendations from my friend
Nick Russo, who also has a cool

I didn't understand why everyone thinks Sun Ra is so cosmic until
I heard the double disc Sun
Ra Visits Planet Earth / Interstellar Low Ways which is out of
this world!
I've not gotten far in yet, but I did see a great concert by
the Campbell Brothers who play a modern gospel music
with steel
guitars
The concert also included a performance by
Hassan Hakmoun, a Gnawa performer from Morocco
Lincoln Center is one of the best reasons to live
in NY
