Josephine Passananti profile

I'm a PhD Student at the University of Chicago in the SAND Lab. I am co-advised by Ben Zhao and Heather Zheng, studying the intersection of security, privacy and machine learning. I'm interested in how AI can both help and harm our communities, specifically in techniques to prevent malicious use of personally identifiable information by Deep Learning models. Currently I'm exploring technical approaches aimed at helping artists maintain the originality of their work in the face of generative image models.

I recently received a M.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University while supported by the Columbia SEAS Mudd Fellowship. I graduated from the University of Chicago in 2022 with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Visual Arts.
