Grading

There will be one midterm quiz Thursday, February 4, counting 20 percent; weekly problem sets likewise counting 20 percent; the final exam counting 60 percent.

Office hours

Office hours for Norman Lebovitz, Ry359A: Wednesday 5:15PM, Thursday 3PM.

Office hour for Yan Zhang, E16: Monday 4PM.

Problem session

There will be a weekly problem session in E312 5-6 PM Mondays, beginning January 11.

Material to be covered

We will cover most of Chapters 1-6. We will then do a specialized topic, to be chosen jointly, for the remainder of the term. It may be Dynamical-Systems Theory, Boundary-Value Problems or something else.
