Using SimpleScalar at University of Chicago

Location

The SimpleScalar programs can be found on Debian 3.0 machines, http://tools.cs.uchicago.edu/tools/find_cs_hosts.php, in the directory /opt/simplescalar. The compilation tools such as sslittle-na-sstric-gcc only seem to work on garfield.cs.uchicago.edu.
/opt/simplescalar/bin contains tools like sslittle-na-sstric-gcc which will allow you to compile C programs into PISA binaries. You use sslittle-na-sstric-gcc in a similar fashion to gcc.

	sslittle-na-sstrix-gcc main.c

/opt/simplescalar/simplesim-3.0 contains the various simulators.
To run the tools and/or the simulators use the following command to add the necessary directories to your path:
```
	setenv PATH /opt/simplescalar/bin:/opt/simplescalar/simplesim-3.0:$PATH
	
```

Other Information

We are using version 3 of simplescalar. In HW1, we will be using sim-outorder. In other homeworks we will probably use sim-cache as well. The user guide describes how to set various options for the simulators. Click on documentation at http://www.simplescalar.com and download the users guide for more information.
