About me

I am currently an Applied Scientist at Amazon Alexa. Prior to that I spent a year at the Core Machine Learning Team at Amazon.

I finished my PhD at the University of Chicago in July 2017 where I was advised by Risi Kondor. My PhD work focuses on applying harmonic analysis to matrix factorizations and large graphs. The work has deep connections to functional analysis, numerical linear algebra & randomized algorithms; it also has practical implications for large scale data analysis.

Generally, my interests revolve around Machine Learning and its applications to large, real world datasets. I have prior experience working with biological datasets and have more recently applied Machine Learning to signal & audio processing tasks (at Lyric Labs/Analog Devices at Cambridge,MA) and text & natural language processing tasks (at the Core ML Team at Amazon, Berlin, Germany).

Prior to graduate school, I received a BA from Colgate University, where I studied molecular biology and computer science. I grew up in Bulgaria .
