CMSC 27610 Digital Biology

Explores the digital nature of biology at the molecular scale. Focuses on the role of the hydrophobic effect in protein/ligand associations. Utilizes data-mining as a tool both to understand basic biophysics and to explain protein-ligand associations. Shows how such analog interactions can lead to digital devices (e.g., switches). No biochemisty background will be assumed. All prerequisites will be provided in the class.
