Shiqin Yan

Hi, welcome! I'm a M.S. student of computer science graduating in May, 2018. I'm seeking full-time job in software development!

I was a PhD student in Department of Computer Science at University of Chicago, where I was part of UCARE (UChicago systems research on Avaliability, Reliability and Efficiency) research group. I was advised by Prof. Haryadi Gunawi. Prior to this, I received B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering with a secondary major in Computer Science at University of Wisconsin-Madison, in 2014.

My research interests are File/Storage Systems, Operating Systems, and Cloud/Distributed Computing. More specifically, the performance stability of systems. My past research involves leveraging redundant information offered by RAID/Erasure Coding to mitigate the tail latency in flash storage.
