More bullet points...

Yo -

  • Congrats to MZ + IW on the birth of their son Andres Bonifacio (AB)!
  • Last week's Boondocks was fantastic. If you look at the liquor store "hold-up" (with W3 and Samuel L.) as a metaphor for the Iraq war, well there's something there.... These episodes are getting better. I doubt that they can top the last one though...
  • This winter has got me more down than recent winters have. I need to shake it off and just ignore the weather.
  • Didn't get it together enough to go see either Iron & Wine and Calexico at the Congress Theater or MF Doom at the Abbey Pub tonight.
  • Need to spend a good hour tonight prepping for a presentation I'm doing at work tomorrow.
  • Wednesday: finish the "seattle" project that's been lingering and write some new year's notes for people.
  • Why is the national anthem such a prominent part of sports versus other facets of American life? This Scoop Jackson column has me still thinking about that...

On the Prelude to the Season of Lists

To Whom it may concern ::

The middle of december is usually the start of my "season of lists" weblogging mode.

So, if you don't get a proper list... I'll at least give you information in a rapid-fire bullet point style.

  • Yahoo bought del.icio.us ... I really like del.icio.us as a URL/web-resource management tool. I hope it is allowed to continue as it is...
  • I signed up for AIM account today. I was unable to get a screen name that was any of my usual login IDs, so I had to mix and match (working under serious time constraints) and ended up with "rasmlosis"... so buzz me there if you're into that sort of thing.
  • Why AIM? Because ETH is in Ghana and uses AIM, iChat, and it's ability to beam voice over the line to communicate with folks on this side. I know it's not a new thing, but I haven't used this functionality before... so it was very cool. It was good to talk to ETH too!
  • Am taking Wednesdays off for the rest of the month. I need (for my mental/emotional health) to take some days off before the official holiday season, and am responsible for meetings that occur on both Mondays and Fridays... so I'm taking wednesdays off for the next 3 weeks. 2 days at work, one day off, 2 days at work, weekend.
  • Scottie Pippen had his jersey retired yesterday: he revolutionized the 3 (SF) in the NBA.
  • Watched the first DVD of Aeon Flux. Eh. Next two movies: Crash and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
  • The White Sox traded for Rob Mackowiak this week. He went to Oak Lawn H.S. for one year. I took a placement test at OLHS one year. It's good to have him back home. South Side.

Thursday Morning 8AM...

To Whom it may concern:

  • There's been quite a lot of activity on email of old hendersonians as we all reflect upon the passing of our RH Tania Forte and her impact on our time in Henderson. It's quite moving to see all these characters coming back together (virtually) and sharing their memories.
  • The Black Keys on Friday at the Metro were great. I like concerts incredibly, but find my tolerance for concert-goers declining. Of course, I know better than to go to a show on Friday night. I do it to myself... and that's what really hurts.
  • I'm going to spread out some vacation days in december... am looking to take one day a week each of the next two weeks and then two days off between xmas and the new year. Will also try to sprinkle in some "work from home" time in the midst of all that.
  • Not quite done with this class, but incredibly close. Before the weekend. Then there will only be one more quarter...
  • Have quite the list of "fun" things I'd like to do in December. (but first I need to wrap this class up...)
  • It's only been two weeks or so, but I am doing well with the "picture a day" concept. (see the sidebar)

Odds and Ends

To Whom it may concern --

I'll be light on weblogging for the next week while I finish up some assignments. I will, however, continue to update the photo section on the sidebar daily. I'm enjoying the new phone.

It always seems like I have a lot to write about whenever I have to take one of these mini-breaks from weblogging. It also seems like a lot of interesting things seem to coincide with whenever I really need to focus on getting some particular thing done.

I enjoy challenges, but sometimes it just feels like it's all a bit much....
