Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Fusion! This website is a portfolio of all my creative work utilizing or concerning technology as a medium for artistic expression. My belief is that the interactive digital medium is one of the most flexible and creative outlets for the evocation of thoughts and ideas. As a result, this site is entirely composed of my experiments and thoughts about the prospect of using computers as both an informational and an expressive medium.

Hey! In case you were wondering, I called this place Fusion because it's a combination (i.e., fusion) of a bunch of different computer-related things: programming, visual art, multimedia, ideas regarding computers and technology, and narrative.

Feel free to browse around this place in any order you want. If you have any comments, criticisms, or suggestions, please feel free to email me at varmaa@kenyon.edu.

Please note that this site is still under major construction, as I have to post every single major creative endeavor I've worked on in the past few years. Unfortunately, college keeps me quite busy, so I may not be able to finish this site as quickly as I would like.

Fusion is organized into the following sections (you can use the menu bar at the top of each page to access them quickly):

  • About - About me. Who I am, why I'm doing what I'm doing, and other general things about myself (as well as my resume).
  • Code - My efforts in programming. I am fluent in C, C++, Java, Pascal, and have done some assembly and other miscellaneous languages on the side as well.
  • Art - These are my endeavors in art, particularly 3D design, page layout, montages, and colorization of line-art.
  • Websites - Links (and local copies) to websites I've made or helped make.
  • Ideas - My thoughts on interactivity, technology, and society. These are papers and essays that mostly center around the notion of Multi-User Dimensions (MUDs) as on-line communities, and the prospect of using the interactive digital medium as an outlet for creativity.
  • Narrative - My experiments in digital narrative. Much of this section consists of art with a definite message, whereas the art displayed in the "Art" section is mostly artwork created for spectacle or as a result of experimentation.
I hope you enjoy the site! If you ever would like to return to this welcome page, just click on the funky symbol at the bottom right-hand corner of any of the pages on the site.
