This is the course webpage for Calculus II (152) section 73. Here is the syllabus for the class. On the first day, there was a review test with some problems from Calculus I. You should make sure that you can do all of these problems. Otherwise, you won't be able to do the problems from this class.

Office hours

Office hours are currently scheduled for Monday and Friday 2nd period. My office is on the 6th floor of the Hill center, room 624.

Homework

The homework assigned for Friday, September 7 is problems 2,3,4,5 from section 6.2 of this problems sheet. You may hand in the homework to get feedback, but homework does not affect your grade. Instead, there will be a quiz on Friday morning on the material covered in the homework. If you can do and understand the homework, you should be okay on the quiz. You probably won't be able to learn the material without doing the homework.

The homework for Monday, September 10 is problems 1,2,4,6,7 from section 6.3 of the problem sheet.

The workshop (problems 1(a),(b)) is due on Wednesday, Sept 12. Take a look at the sample workshop writeup.

The homework for Friday, September 14 is all the problems from sections 6.4 and 6.5 from the problem sheet. (There are three problems from each section.) There will be a quiz in class on the material from the homework.

The homework for Monday, September 17 is all of the problems from this sheet (different from the sheet that the rest of the problems have been from!). As usual, there will be a quiz in class on the material from the homework. If you want, you can check your answers to the homework with the solutions sheet.

The homework for Friday, September 21 is problems 1,7,19,23,59 from Section 7.2 of the book, and 7,13,17,21,41 from Section 7.3. Since these are odd-numbered problems, you can check your answers with those in the back of the book.

Problem 1 of the workshop from Wednesday, September 19 is due on Friday, Sept 21. Take a look at the sample workshop writeup.

The homework for Monday, September 24 is: problems 1,3,5,9,15,17,39,45 from Section 7.4 and 1,3,7,9,19,29 from Section 7.5. The problems from section 7.5 are general integration problems, they may use any of the strategies we've covered, or a combination of them. There is a quiz on Monday, as usual.

The homework for Friday, September 28 is: problems 5,11,15,19,21,22,27, and 43. Pay particular attention to problems 19 and up, some of include error-bound calculations. Problems 1,2,and one part of 3 (you pick which one) from the workshop are also due Friday.

Homework for Monday, October 1 is problems 5,7,9,13,31,33,41 from section 7.8, as well as problems 49,51,53 from the same section. These last 3 problems are on the comparison test, which we did not cover in class, but is pretty easy to understand. It's covered on page 536. Email me if you have questions. Office hours will be at 10:20 on Monday as usual.

Homework for Friday, October 5 is problems 5,7,9,15,17,19,21 from Section 8.1 and problems 1,3,5,7,11,13,17 from Section 8.2. There will be a quiz as usual. Email me if you have questions on the homework.

Problems 1 and either 3 or 4 of the workshop are due on Friday. Extra punk rock points for doing problem 4.

The homework for Monday, September 8, is problerms 1,3,5,7,9,11 from 9.1 and 1,3,4,5,6, and 13 from 9.2. Note that none of these problems have to do with Euler's method, which is part of Section 9.2 but which we did not cover in class, and which won't be on any of the exams. There will be a short quiz on Monday as usual.

The Midterm is on Friday, October 12. Monday's class will be a review. Come with questions. There is a review sheet for the exam. We will be going over this sheet in this week's workshop. There is a formula sheet that will be given out to be used for the exam. You don't need to bring the formula sheet. It will be handed out in class.

Homework for Friday, October 19 is problems 1,3,7,11,13,19,37,39 from 9.3 and 1,3,11,22

Homework for Monday, October 22 is problems 1,2,3,9,17,19,23,31,37,39 from 11.1 and 1,2,11,15,17,21,29,41 from 11.2. This is a really important section. You really should make sure you can understand ALL of the problems. As usual, there will be a quiz on Monday.

The homework for Friday, October 26 is problems 1,2,3,7,9,17,31,33,37 from section 11.3. As usual, there will be a quiz.

Here is the workshop from Monday, October 29.

The homework for Wednesday, October 31 is problems 1,2,3,5,9,15,21,25,29,33,36 from Section 11.4. The quiz will be on Wednesday.

Homework for Friday, November 2 is problems 1,2,3,5,9,15,19,23,27 from Section 11.5 and problems 5,7,17 from Section 11.6. Note that we haven't covered the ratio and root tests yet, so you should be able to do these problems without those tests.

Homework for Monday, November 5 is problems 1,3,9,11,21,29,31 from 11.6 and problems 1,7,13,19,25,31,37 from 11.7. Note that the problems from 11.7 are problems which may require any of the techniques we have covered up to now. As usual, there will be a quiz!

Homework for Friday, November 9 is problems 1,5,9,13,17,21,25,29,31,35 from 11.8. You only have to do the first part of problem 35 (find the interval of convergence), not the second part (find an explicit formula).

Here is the workshop from Wednesday, Nov 7. In a grand experiment, this workshop will be due on Monday November 12.

Homework for Monday, November 12 is problems 1,2,5,9,15,23, and 35 from Section 11.9. There will be a quiz as usual.

Homeowrk for Friday, November 16 is problems 1,2,3,5,7,11,13,15,16,19,20 from section 11.10. Pay particular attention to problems 19 and 20. These are done using the basic method illustrated by Example 4 in the book (which we covered at the end of class on Wednesday).

Homework for Monday, November 19 is problems 37,38,39,41,43,45 from section 11.10. If you are unsure what is expected for the problems involving integrals, see Example 8 from this section in the book.

The second MIDTERM, covering chapter 11, is Wednesday, Nov 21. Look over the review sheet.

There will be a quiz on Friday covering problems of the type from Wednesday's workshop. (The write-up for the workshop is due Monday. Two problems of your choice.)

The homework for Monday, December 3 is problems 5,7,13,15,19,25 from 10.1, and problems 3,5,7,17,39,41,43, and 53 from 10.2.

The homework for Wednesday, December 5 is problems 3,5,15,17,21 from 10.3, and 1,3,5,7,17,23,45,47 from section 10.4.

Problems 1(c), 2, and 3 from Wednesday's workshop are due on Monday, December 10. There is also the MIDTERM 1 TEST on that day. You should review the first midterm to prepare for the test.

Wednesday, December 12 will be one of the most important days of your life.

THE FINAL EXAM will be in SEC 205 on Monday, December 17 from 4pm to 7pm. Note that this is not a room which we've had class in!
